 Rutter Mass of the Children

The Choral Art Society Singers, Musica de Filia, Southern Maine Children’s Chorus, soprano Jessica Russell, baritone Peter Allen
John Rutter is widely recognized as the modern Handel or Randall Thompson, a composer whose choral composition are vast. One of his most recent works, The Mass of the Children, sets texts from the traditional Latin Mass with English poetry, a practice of many English composers including Vaugh Williams and Britten. The result is a delightful work that calls upon the considerable gifts of the Southern Maine Children's Chorus and Musica da Filia as well as the resources of the Choral Art Singers and a small ensemble of instruments.
