Carl Orff
Transcribed by James Kennerley
ChoralArt Masterworks with Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ
James Kennerley, organist
Robert Russell, Music Director
ChoralArt kicks off its 51st season in a performance of Carl Orff’s boisterous cantata. James Kennerley, who created this transcription for organ, percussion, and chorus, will be sitting at the console of the Mighty Kotzschmar organ. Carl Orff composed Carmina Burana from Medieval poems about love and longing, springtime and ecstasy, drinking and cavorting. The Frankfurt Opera premiered the work in 1937, and it immediately found an enthusiastic home on programs of choruses worldwide.
