"The Armed Man" Triumphs
The Choral Art Society finished a successful 2012-13 season with a triumphiant performance
of The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace. It was "a feast for the senses, with
rich musical texture", said Jennifer Brewer of the Portland Press Herald. "Under
the direction of the renowned Robert Russell, the choir performed...with each section
often singing as one voice," she also stated. You can read the
entire review online.
Sing Along
Though the season is officially over, you can still hear some of the seasoned artists
of The Choral Art Society perform once more this year and even get the chance to
sing with them, when The Choral Art Society holds their "Summer Sing 2013", a sing-along
and singers' skills workshop for local aspiring vocalists on Monday, June 24th,
2013 at Catherine McAuley High School Auditorium. Led by CAS Music Director Robert
Russell along with singer and voice instructor Kathleen Grammer, the workshop begins
at 7 pm, and is followed at 7:30 pm by the sing-along, where participants will sing
Gabriel Faure's Requiem and Franz Schubert's Mass in G. Admission to the workshop is free.
